James Newcomb was born on 7 February 1732/33 in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut.^1,2 He and Submit Downer were married on 11 November 1755 in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut. He and Nellie Allen were married about 1790 in New York. He died on 14 December 1799 at age 66 in Stephentown, Rensselaer, New York.¹

Said to have benn the stoutest man ever born in Lebanon CT. Reference nr. BMN49. James Newcomb had person sources.³ He was named an executor for the will of Hezekiah Newcomb on 30 August 1770 in Lebanon, Connecticut.⁴ James Newcomb lived in Little Hoosac, Albany Co, NY+, in 1782. He and Submit Downer were separated on 23 September 1782 in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut.⁵
