From Don Weymouth:
John Webster came from Ipswich, Suffolk County, England, around 1631 to Ipswich, Massachusetts, where he was made a freeman in 1635. He was a baker by trade, admitted an inhabitant of Salem in 1637 and had a grant of land. He was a witness in the Essex court in 1639 and applied for land at the Creek in 1642. Parents
Biography
John Webster was born BY ABT 1631. He and Ann Batt were married on 13 June 1653 in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts+.1,2 He died on 18 October 1716 in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts. From Webster: "About 1634 he emigrated to American with his parents and one older sister, Mary. After first residing in Boston, they soon moved to Newbury and by the time young John was about 10, the family had settled at Ipswich. John was about 14 years old when his father died and being the oldest son of eight children presumably assumed some family responsibilities. ...Except for a period of about 4 years between 1653 and 1657, John and his family lived in Newbury, Ma., where John was a blacksmith. He is also referred to as Sergeant John Webster so apparently he was associated with the military in some manner. Both John and his wife Anne were members of the Newbury church being admitted as members in 1674. They had 10 children." John Webster had person sources.3,4 He immigrated between 1633 and 1634.
