He was a Freeman 14 May 1634. An original proprietor at Hartford, Ct. His home lot in 1639 was on the west side of the road to the Neck, now Front St. where Morgan St. crosses it. He removed to Farmington, Ct. Was one of the original members of the Farmnington Congregational Church 13 Oct 1652 and a Deacon, a Deputy from Farmington May 1647 To 1655 and again in 1660; one of the 84 proprietors of Farmington in 1672. His first wife's name was Elizabeth. Children are probably from first wife. He died Mar. 1682/3 at age 77 making him be born about 1605/6. His will dated 16 Mar. and inventory on 31 Mar. 16--. Stephen came in 1632 as part of Rev. Hooker's company to Newtown, (Cambridge)
Mass. A large group later accompanied Rev. Hooker to CT. 50 families going to
Hartford. It is said he discovered the ford over the Ct. River, hence the name
Hart-ford.
Stephen married 2nd Margaret Farmington(Smith).
