Maria A. Shanley was born about 1795 in Maryland. George Watterston and she were married on 26 October 1811.1,2 She died on 30 June 1864 in Washington, District of Columbia.3 She was buried on 2 July 1864 at Congressional Cemetery in Washington, District of Columbia.3,4
Maria A. Shanley was named an heir in the will of Elizabeth Magruder on 27 March 1827 in Washington, District of Columbia.5 George Watterston and Maria A. Shanley appeared in the census on 16 July 1850 in Washington, District of Columbia.6 She witnessed the will of Charles Beale Hamilton on 10 March 1851 in Washington, District of Columbia.7 She appeared in the census on 14 June 1860 in Washington, District of Columbia.8 She was named an heir in the will of Eliza Shanley in October 1860. Maria A. Shanley filed a petition regarding several slaves on 30 June 1862 in Washington, District of Columbia.9
