Mary Elizabeth Mitchell was born on 26 February 1835 in Noxubee Co., Mississippi. John Marion Ramsey and she were married circa 1852. She died on 27 September 1896 at age 61 in Attala Co., Mississippi. She was buried at Bear Creek Cemetery in McCool, Attala, Mississippi.¹

(There are several candidates in the census, none of them particularly stand out. Maybe Absolom Mitchell of Choctaw Co? In 1850 he has a daughter Eliza, but she disappears thereafter.) Mary Elizabeth Mitchell appeared in the household of Benjamin Byran Mitchell in the census on 17 September 1850 in Union Parish, Louisiana.² John Marion Ramsey and she appeared in the census on 18 July 1860 at Township 17 in Choctaw Co, Mississippi.³ She was mentioned in the probate files of John Fancher between 21 November 1864 and 1872 in Noxubee Co., Mississippi.⁴ John Marion Ramsey and she appeared in the census in 1870 at Townhsip 16, Range 9, in Attala Co., Mississippi.⁵ John Marion Ramsey and she appeared in the census on 11 June 1880 in Attala Co., Mississippi.⁶
